The City of Chanhassen has launched a comprehensive planning process to update its 2040 Comprehensive Plan as required by the Metropolitan Land Planning Act and establish a new vision for 2050. The Metropolitan Land Planning Act is a state law that requires local governments in the seven county Twin Cities metropolitan area to develop and regularly update local comprehensive plans to ensure that local growth and development align with regional infrastructure and policy. A Comprehensive Plan guides future growth and development while establishing policy and implementation strategies for land use, transportation, housing, parks and trails, environment, economic development, water resources, sanitary sewer, and public water supply. Building on the foundation of prior comprehensive and strategic planning, this initiative will feature an inclusive community engagement process designed to reflect the voices, values, and aspirations of residents and stakeholders. The result will be a visionary, inclusive, and actionable 2050 Comprehensive Plan that guides future growth and development while advancing Chanhassen’s priorities and long-term community goals.
